Ideyatechies attended the recently concluded Philippine Software Industry Conference at the Marriott Grand Ballroom, Marriott Hotel Manila where this year’s softconPH gathering has really lived up to its slogan – elevate, innovate and initiate.
Tons of attendees from different sectors of information technology industry have gathered and shared their experiences with one another to elevate the quality of info tech services here in the Philippines. Of course, Ideyatech Java Software Developers and Testers went there to learn, share, and be informed. And now, we were all inspired to take a bigger part in the software industry. Here’s to share my thoughts and experience after joining the biggest gathering of technical experts in IT and software development.
I got surprised with the current problems that the PH IT has been facing these years and got excited about different software development trends that were introduced.
Some mind-boggling statistics about the entry-level programming talent were revealed, but solutions were brought up to address these woes.
From these shared problems and trends, the will to innovate for the future was lit on all attendees.
As for the testing proper, I had the chance to participate in different testing topics during the breakout sessions conducted into four different rooms. Below were the topics discussed:
- QE is the new QA – creation of hybrid testers where they could be as technical as developers without losing the QA curiosity
- Truths and myths about certified software testers – took some critical points when you should take QA certifications
- Non-technical QA’s journey to automation testing – discussed the challenges and trials of non-technical QA’s venture to automation testing
- Whole team approach to agile testing – dug into some agile practices and philosophies to include every single member of the team on testing
- Security testing – introduced us the security testing tool ZAP by OWASP
This software conference has really drastically shifted my views on information technology landscape in the Philippines. In fact, this ignited me to start applying some of the things that I’ve learned that day to our team here in Ideyatech. Kudos to this year’s speakers and to PSIA, the organizer of softconPH! Without a doubt, all attendees were inspired and learned a lot about the future of technology and the progress of the country’s IT industry.
But wait, there’s more! To cap off the successful softconPH event, a fellowship night was organized by Eastern Communications Inc to let the delegates interact with each other and have fun together!
And to further energize the party, companies sent out representatives to do musical performances. And of course, Ideyatech has sent our own rockstar developers to perform as well!
A day full of learning and a night full of delightfulness, indeed.
